Living the Present

Every collection requires a backdrop that complements the vision of its designs. For myself, creating opportunities to work with nature is what I am drawn to because of my Icelandic heritage. By the same token, after so many years living in Peru´, I have come to have my ´spots´. Among many breathtaking sites, Mancora is definitively one of the most breathtaking and at the top of my list.
With its sun-drenched shores and the invigorating power of the sea, Mancora exhibits a unique charm. While, it does not initially present a typical postcard view; it does reveals an untamed wilderness that is both unapologetic and solitary.
Complementing the absolute luxury that is feeling that you have the beach to yourself, is a particular boutique hotel which serves as a location to our SS25 shoot. Kichik embodies a unique hospitality that harmonizes natural elements with essential décor, the tranquility of its atmosphere and the delicious freshness of the cuisine. You might say that while taking care of business one should still give into a little indulgence of the senses!
I hope the images, beautifully captured by my talented friend and collaborator Maarten Schets, truly convey the essence of the experience and the joy of fully immersing oneself in this natural paradise. For some, like Susy Dyson, Mancora has become a second home. One afternoon, we gathered to reminisce about past lives and memories from a different era. As she reflected on her most glamorous moments as an international model featured in numerous Vogue and Elle editorials, her stories painted a vivid picture of a life filled with elegance and adventure. It was a delightful conversation that intertwined personal history with the allure of the fashion world.
While we looked back at the when and where, the three of us agreed that there is indeed no place like home. And that if your childhood home is too far away, finding a new one that is truly special is a beautiful adventure worth living.
